The Albany County wreck happened at around 7:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, in the hamlet of Loudonville, according to Colonie Police.

Investigators said Nicholas Camilli, of Loudonville, was driving his motorcycle northbound on Old Niskayuna Road when a car made a left turn in front of him near W. Cobble Hill Road.

Camilli struck the car and was fatally injured.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 79-year-old Loudonville man, was not injured.

Old Niskayuna Road was closed near the crash scene for four hours while crews investigated. The roadway has since reopened.

The Colonie Police Department is asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to contact the agency at 518-782-2620.

Camilli was a Marine and aspiring police officer who had recently taken the New York State Police trooper exam, his colleague Edward Barnes said in a tribute on Facebook.

“I want to share some sad news. The young man (Nicholas Camilli) that was killed on his motorcycle last night in Colonie was a person who I worked with and had great respect for,” Barnes said.

“May he rest in God’s peace and may God shed comfort upon his family and friends.”
